Dear Atlassers,

Although our project is nearly finished, I would like to introduce myself.  I am replacing Derek Potter as the Herp Atlas Coordinator and will be working with you all to complete the atlas.  I worked as Derek's field assistant last spring.  In addition to atlassing, I am also currently finishing my M.Sc. in Biology at Acadia University (studying the effects of landscape change on dragonflies in western Newfoundland).  This is one of my first excursions into the world of vertebrate biology and it has been fascinating so far!

I am looking forward to meeting and hearing from you over the next few months.  Hopefully I will talk to many of you in the course of organizing our efforts to complete the target squares.  It is inspiring to see how many people have contributed to this project out of their love for natural history and concern for the environment.  Our additional work this summer will create a useful reference for naturalists throughout the Maritimes.

happy herping,

Michelle
